Perhaps more than with any other actor working today, the cigar has found its way into the hands of Armand Assante's big- and small-screen characters, but for Hollywood's tough guy, a cigar is not just a cigar nor is it just a prop.

He has lit up a premium smoke in more than a dozen movies during his career, which includes the part of a Cuban musician in the 1992 feature The Mambo Kings and his most recent role as mafia kingpin Dominic Cattano in American Gangster.
